We slept in a little, had breakfast and then were on our way to Arashiyama. It was only a 20 min bus ride to get there and once we were there we walked around the little tourist town. After getting a quick bite to eat, we headed up to the Iwata Monkey Park. It was about a 15 min hike to the top, before we got our first glimpse of a Japanese Macaque Monkeys parading through the forest freely. It was surreal, I couldn’t believe there was a place like this, they were all just running around and playing and got really close to you. There are over 150 of them in the park and they all are playing, grooming, or sleeping. They are also all one big family and each of the Monkeys are named. It wa unbelievable and I loved every second of it. The view was amazing and you could close enough to touch them, but we weren’t allowed to. I think it was reason enough to go to Kyoto and it will be the highlight of my trip. Afterwards we went around the town a little more and looked at all the little shops. After a long day we headed home to make some much needed dinner.
